| Neal Lane
(Former Science Advisor to President Clinton)
Since January 2001 Neal Lane has held
the position of University Professor with appointments as Senior
Fellow of the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy and
in the Physics and Astronomy Department at Rice University, in Houston,
Texas. From 1998 to 2001 Professor Lane served as Assistant to the
President for Science and Technology and also Director of the White
House Office of Science and Technology Policy. From 1993 to 1998
he was Director of the National Science Foundation. Professor Lane
is a distinguished scientist and educator and is the author of numerous
articles and presentations on theoretical atomic and molecular physics
and science and technology policy. He is a fellow of the American
Physical Society, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the
American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS), the Association
for Women in Science and a member of the American Association of
Physics Teachers.
