Giacomo Rizzolatti
(Human Physiology)
Giacomo Rizzolatti is Professor of Human
Physiology at the Department of Neurosciences of the University
of Parma in Italy. Professor Rizzolatti graduated in medicine from
the University of Padua, specialising in Neurology. Professor Rizzolatti
was President of the European Brain Behavior Society and Italian
Society for Neuroscience. He directed the European Training Program
in Brain and Behaviour Research (ETP) sponsored by the European
Science Foundation for several years and for a short time he was
a member of the European Medical Research Council.
At present Professor Rizzolatti is member of the Scientific Committee
of Fondation Fyssen and Associate Member of the Neuroscience Program
directed by Gerald Edelman, San Diego. He is member of Academia
Europaea, Accademia dei Lincei and Honorary Foreign Member of the
American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Among his major awards: the Golgi Prize for Physiology, the George
Miller Award of the Cognitive Neuroscience Society and the Feltrinelli
Prize for Medicine of Accademia dei Lincei.
