ASEF Sponsorship available for Asian Scientists
The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) is pleased to
announce that it will sponsor the participation of up to 20 scientists
from Asian ASEM countries to the Euroscience Open Forum 2004 from 25-28
August in Stockholm, Sweden.
Sponsorship Covers:
- point-to-point economy airfare from country of origin to Sweden
- 4 nights hotel accommodation
- ESOF registration fee
Selection Criteria:
- candidate is a national of an Asian ASEM* member country
- demonstrable record in a relevant scientific field (preference is
given to environment-related fields)
- minimum academic qualification: currently-enrolled doctoral student
- further preference will be given to candidates who have been
accepted to present papers at any ESOF session
- Asian ASEM countries are: Brunei, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia,
Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam

The deadline for the applications are set
to 15 July, 2004 (extended deadline).
The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) is the only organisation
participating in the ESOF that actively brings in Asian participation
to the meeting. The sponsorship would provide a unique opportunity for
Euroscience to be a venue for Asian scientists and specialists to interact
with their European counterparts in line with the 6th Framework Programme
of the European Commission. The new framework outlines a European Research
Area with an opportunity for collaboration between European scientists
and those from developing countries in Asia. For more information about

Travel Grants for young scientists from Central- and Eastern Europe
Stifterverband
für die Deutsche Wissenschaft, DaimlerChrysler
Fonds and UNESCO-ROSTE
are offering a limited number of grants to support travel and accommodation
expenses for the participation to ESOF2004 of young scientists from Central
and Eastern Europe of all disciplines (age limit: 35).
The call for applications is closed (deadline
20 June, 2004). The
Marie Curie Fellowship Association (MCFA) contributes to the selection
of candidates and UNESCO-ROSTE entrusted MCFA with the management of its
grants.
Grants from other sponsors are managed by Euroscience.
Travel grants available for organizers of sessions and presentations
The organisation
Stifterverband (Donor´s Association for the Sciences and Humanities
in Germany) offers grants and allowances for German convenors of sessions
and workshops, poster-exhibitions, lectures etc. in its programme-scheme
“PUSH goes Europe!”. The grants may also be used for international
